Massage Therapy, Shiatsu, and Personal Training Continuing Education (CE) courses are offered at our Haskell / Pompton Lakes, Bloomfield and Tinton Falls, NJ locations for your convenience. Below each class heading, you will find course details, instructor information, locations, dates, and the cost.

** For all classes, please wear comfortable clothing, and bring note taking material, massage lubricant, towels, and sheets as needed. If there are any special requirements or pre-requisities, it will be noted as such. **

Aromatherapy, Introduction – 16 CEU’s

Aromatherapy is a non-invasive, non-toxic, pleasurable way to enhance your clients lives. It utilizes essential oils, or the vital, alive part of a flower, plant, fruit, or tree that is distilled in order to remove the active, fragrant part of the oil from its other components.

In this introductory course, students will work with the blending of carrier and essential oils while learning the practical application of aromatherapy blends and their uses in massage therapy.

The American Heart Association, Heartsaver First Aid / CPR / AED – 0 CEU’s*

The Heartsaver First Aid / CPR / AED Course meets the requirements for state licensure (NJ, NY, and PA). The course will cover adult and pediatric CPR, foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) and Automated External Defibrillation (AED).

This course also includes General Principles of First Aid, Injury, Medical and Environmental Emergencies.

Students are issued an American Heart Association Course Completion Card with in two weeks of course completion, Valid for 2 Years

Course limited to 9 participants.

The American Heart Association, Heartsaver® CPR & AED– 0 CEU’s
(per licensure requirement for renewal)

Renewal course offers a flexible, time-saving option for practitioners that need to renew safety training. In accordance to the guidelines for state licensure, massage therapists that are applying for license renewal must provide a current American Heart Association CPR, AED card. This holds true for New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania applicants. The complete CPR, AED course is delivered in 2 sections. Part 1 is given via a web based at home (must be completed at least 48 hours prior to start of class, must be done with in 60 days of online completion), self-paced cognitive learning module. The second portion requires students to meet with an American Heart Association instructor to complete a hands-on skills test. Upon successful completion of both sections, students receive a course completion card valid for two years.

Business Ethics at Home Study – 4 CEU’s

Ethics is the study of standards of conduct and moral judgment as it applies to a particular person, religion, group, or profession. Since each person is unique with their own experiences and beliefs, ethics can be difficult to define, but there are some general guidelines that will allow you, as a professional, to be responsible in providing comfort and safety of your clients. Some of the topics covered will include: Informed consent, right of refusal, confidentiality, boundaries (legal, professional, personal), and more.

Chair Massage – 16 CEU’s

A massage that can be done anywhere! In this course, a specific acupressure routine is taught that is done with the client seated, and fully clothed to provide a relaxing yet invigorating pick-me-up. Learn how to use this modality in corporate America as an introduction to massage therapy or a marketing tool. You will also learn the many ways it can increase the activity level of your massage practice.

Event Sports Massage – 16 CEU’s

Learn specific event-related massage to work on athletes and non-athletes at sporting events. By using these specific massage techniques along with stretching, students will help athletes achieve their maximum performance, recover quicker, and reduce potential injury. Students will also learn to market themselves and bring these potential clients to their practice so the athletes can increase their longevity in their sport and train more efficiently.

Introduction to Eastern Theory & Bodywork Module I & II- 32 CEU’s

This course will explain the basic principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which form the basis for most eastern modalities of bodywork. Concepts such as Yin/Yang, Five Element theory, and the meridian system will be explained. The student will also be taught some basic acupressure techniques. This class is approximately 50% lecture and 50% hands-on.

Pregnancy Massage – 16 CEU’s

In this class, students will learn the Anatomy & Physiology of pregnancy as it applies to each trimester, safety issues and contraindications to massage, how to position your client for comfort and safety, and how to develop a one hour side-lying routine. The emphasis will be placed on proper draping techniques, positional release techniques that alleviate some minor discomforts of pregnancy, and marketing techniques to attract clientele.

Reflexology of the Foot – 16 CEU’s

This non-invasive treatment has been used for over 5,000 years to activate healing and stress reduction within the body. Students will learn a brief history of reflexology, guidelines, warm-ups, how to effectively work 9 body systems as they relate to the reflex points on the feet to achieve a therapeutic response. A reflexology routine to work the feet efficiently and effectively will also be taught.

Reiki I – 16 CEU’s

Reiki is a non-invasive, hands-on energy treatment that aims to help the healing process to relieve blockages in the physical, mental and emotional states. Students learning this energy form will be attuned to the “universal life force” and learn the hand positions to work on themselves and others.
